African women engage in U.S. local politics

As African immigrants are becoming a growing part of the American population, they are also participating in the political process, as voters as well as running for elected offices. Winnie Obike, a University of Maryland Ph.D. candidate and Nigerian native, and Sia Finoh, a local activist and native from Sierra Leone, are both running for local office in the State of Maryland, with elections in June 2018.
