There have been reactions from African nations on U.S. President Donald Trump formal recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. South Africa’s ruling ANC has expressed its concern over the move. The U.S. has long been considered a neutral mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. The ANC is worried that may change. The South African ruling party has also reiterated its ongoing support for the people of Palestine in their struggle for self-determination. Meanwhile, The African Union, has condemned Donald Trump’s decision. AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat says the move will only increase tensions in the region.
