JMEC says high level revitalization forum key to peace in South Sudan
The Chairman of the African Union body tasked with monitoring South Sudan’s peace deal implementation says he is hopeful that the agreement will hold. Festus Mogae says he still believes the peace accord is alive and that it only needs to be revitalized to bring peace back to the country. Fighting is reportedly ongoing in parts of South Sudan. Mogae says if the revitalization forum proposed by IGAD includes all aggrieved parties in South Sudan then peace will return.
