Policeman killed, four others wounded in roadside blast in Cairo

One policeman in Egypt has been killed with four wounded, after a roadside explosion near a Cairo suburb. According to authorities, the explosion took place shortly after midnight local time, when a vehicle ferrying a group of officers and conscripts came by the IED planted on the roadside. Initial reports by Egypt’s interior ministry say the bomb was detonated remotely using a mobile phone SIM card. A joint task force made up of several police units is questioning tenants of flats overlooking the site of the attack to try to and identify and arrest the culprits. No claim of responsibility for the attack has been made.
