President al-Bashir swears in new PM, VP amid economic crisis

Sudan’s newly-appointed Prime Minister, Mutaz Musa, and new Vice President Mohammed Osman have been sworn into office. It comes a day after President Omar al-Bashir dissolved his entire government. The 31-member Cabinet is set to be reduced to 21 ministers. Al-Bashir says this will ease the impact of the economic crisis, which has resulted in a shortage of foreign exchange and raised inflation to above 65 percent. Addressing the oath-taking ceremony in Khartoum, the president lashed out at countries’ attempts to block Sudan from accessing foreign markets. The new vice president shares his sentiments
