South Africa condemns Syria strikes

African regimes are also speaking out over the Syria strikes conducted by joint U.S., U.K and French forces. The South African government has condemned the air strikes. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation says the alleged use of chemical weapons does not justify military air strikes in a sovereign state, especially without authorization from the UN Security Council. South Africa is urging all members of the council to abide by the UN Charter mandate — to maintain international peace and security, and redouble efforts towards a peaceful, non-military solution in Syria
